Our foot has it arch that provides aid in walking. Suffering from "fallen arches" or flat feet isn't particularly nice, especially if you are trying to find footwear for work that can accomodate this problem. Most parents cannot wait for their baby to begin walking.

When I went into regular work in my 20's I had to wear heels & started getting knee problems…then to orthodics…supports…you name it. In past 2 years I managed to change my job and get out of my heels. It is only when we start to stand up and walk that we really develop our arches. That's why it is really important for babies and children to walk barefoot a lot. If they where rigid shoes with ‘good support', they will not get the chance to develop arches, nor good functioning feet. In general, speaking about musculoskeletal problems, function is more important than structure. Second, the way the body moves (motor control!!!) is the best predictor of pain and dysfunction. Otherwise I'd be outside running around on flip-flops. I blow out the sides of shoes.

When I visited my podiatrist for another foot issue, he informed me that I over-pronate slightly. I've tried numerous stabilization shoes and I've yet to find any that actually feel good. Low Super Feet inserts (I didn't want to dish out $600 dollars for orthotics that were not entirely necessary") felt awful. Everyone told me I just needed to get used to them. Last year, I started running in the Newton Motus.

There are specific foot problems that a podiatrist will look for during your initial visit. Toeing in, or Metatarsus Adductus, is caused by the feet being drawn up against an infant's body while still in the womb. Most cases of flat feet will correct themselves as a child grows, and foot orthodontics are not necessary to correct the problem. Several other problems could lead to trouble with a child's walking, such as a tightened heel cord or neurological developmental problems. If a child has flat feet, he or she may try to avoid walking because it hurts.

When flat feet are related to lifestyle factors, such as physical activities, shoe selection, and weight gain, careful attention to these factors may prevent the development of flat feet. Nike Lunarglide - This is one of the most comfortable shoes I've run in. It has a secure fit around the heel and over the arch, and is spacious in the toe box. It has quite a bit of cushion for being so light weight, at 10.7 ounces for men's size 9 and 8.7 ounces for women's size 7. The shoe offers exceptional stability that only engages when you need it, so it is idea for both over pronators or neutral runners. If you have flat feet the shoe might not provide enough support. Puma Complete Vectana - Puma has made a name for itself ever since picking up athletes like Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man. They have a wide toe and firm support!
